Horseriding in Selinda Spillway

What is this safari about?

This safari offers personalised horse riding and walking adventures with a recommended four night stay at the remote Motswiri Camp in the Selinda Spillway, Northern Botswana.

With over twenty well-schooled Thoroughbreds, Boerperds, Arabs and Kalahari crosses, large to small, the needs of every rider are matched.

When flowing the spillway offers excellent fishing, the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear water and some great boating. However, please note the water in the spillway is seasonal and cannot be guaranteed.

Small and intimate, the camp has five well-spaced, airy and very comfortable tents, each with their own viewing deck and ensuite shower and toilet.

Who can go?

  • This is BIG5 terrain so only available for the experienced rider.
  • Rides and walks are normally for a maximum of six guests, accompanied by a guide and back up.
  • Children younger than 16 years old are not permitted to walk or ride.

Why is this special?

  • Operated exclusively in 120,000 acres of pristine wilderness on the fringes of the Okavango Delta.
  • This is one of the most remote camps in Botswana and you are virtually guaranteed not to see another traveller.
  • When flowing the spillway is a very special place indeed.
  • Explore the spillway in a powered boat, or in the silence of a canoe or traditional mokoro.
  • Variety of activities are available for non-riders, making it ideal for varied groups.

Where is this?

The waters of the Selinda Spillway are an ancient watercourse linking the Okavango and Kwando-Linyanti floodplains in the north. It often flows from June to September, attracting a wonderfully diverse range of game and bird life.

What should I expect to pay?

The safari starts from USD $630 per person, sharing and is fully inclusive other than charter flights to and from Maun. Children 10 years and younger pay 50% of the rate.

What Extensions do you recommend?

For the riding enthusiast an extension to ride in Northern Tuli or the Makgadikgadi is recommended, allowing for a completely different experience.

Many of safariFRANK’s safari components can be linked – we recommend a mobile safari or stay at a rustic lodge.
