Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries on Earth, and since 1996 its communities have held the rights to manage the wildlife on their own land. There is no single best lodge here because regions do different jobs. The desert regions give you space, silence and skies. The Etosha private reserves give you concentrated wildlife. Sossusvlei and NamibRand: dunes and dark skies<\/h2>\n

No photograph quite prepares you for Sossusvlei<\/a>: red dunes standing over white clay pans, with almost nothing else moving. The neighbouring NamibRand Nature Reserve is Africa\u2019s first Gold-Tier International Dark Sky Reserve. If you have never seen the southern sky properly, this is where you should see it.<\/p>\n
