If you are looking for guesthouse accommodation offering an authentic Ugandan experience within close proximity to Bwindi’s gorilla trekking headquarters, then look no further. You will be warmly welcomed by Eve, Denis, and the team, and offered hot towels and fresh passion juice before being shown to your accommodation in one of the two guesthouses, Noel’s Cottage or Mwebesa House.

Guests who stay at Mwebesa House or Noel’s Cottage can take their meals in the beautiful new restaurant with open balcony. You can relax after your gorilla trek, or after immersing in cultural activities, and drink African tea, Ugandan coffee, or a Waragi & Stoneys (gin & ginger beer) while your dinner is cooked, and listen to the call of the Blue Turaco.

Income generated from the guesthouses is used to support a whole community, helping to drive the local economy and supporting the progress of women and their families in Uganda.

Buhoma in the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is not only home to the mountain gorillas of Uganda but is also a community steeped in tradition and culture.

Ride 4 a Woman, a locally founded women’s empowerment initiative, offers a truly authentic East African cultural experience. Learn to weave baskets, cook local dishes, and watch the women of the community showcase their culture through traditional dance — or even better, you can learn to dance with them.

Accommodations

  • Noel’s Cottage sits alongside the Nyabubare Stream. Designed to feel like you are in your own home, the cottage offers three separate and spacious bedrooms, traditionally decorated using products made on site together with a large bathroom suite and French doors to a balcony with cozy seating.
  • Mwebesa House offers eight comfortable en-suite guest bedrooms in Buhoma, with views of the Bwindi Impenetrable forest, home to most of the mountain gorilla population of Uganda. Each of the rooms is individually and traditionally furnished using products made on site by members of the Ride 4 a woman initiative, the leading women’s empowerment project in Buhoma.
