- Oh and did we mention the sunsets from the top of a dune, just magic!
Look forward to the stunning red sand dunes of the Kalahari Desert with its unique flora and fauna and be pampered by the magic of extraordinary ambiance and hospitality. True ‘nature sculptured’ Namibia at its very best!
Don’t miss a stay in one of the least populated places in the world and visit the San Bushmen who live in the Kalahari. Listen to the call of the big cats and be enchanted by the sight of the barren nature and the typical camel thorn trees of the Kalahari. You will be surprised by the abundance of animals in this seemingly life-threatening landscape.
Namibia is known above all for the Namib Desert. The Kalahari, which stretches over the eastern and southern parts of the country to Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo, is often forgotten. This makes it the largest sandy area in the world and is not really a desert at all, because from bushland to semi-arid dunes it encompasses the most diverse vegetation zones and offers amazing flora and fauna.
Located on the edge of the southern Kalahari in the mixed tree and shrub savannah, the Bagatelle Kalahari Game Lodge is crisscrossed by huge red sand dunes. The owners attach great importance to the preservation of nature and its living beings, so you can experience numerous species of animals and plants up close. Watch various antelope, springbok, zebra, ostriches, meerkats or cheetahs, or let the authentic Bushmen introduce you to their ancient traditions!
The ranch offers guests not only luxurious accommodation in typical African architecture, but also exceptional hospitality and ambiance. The cuisine is internationally revered so let your mind wander and pamper yourself during your stay. Enjoy the unforgettable impressions of a sunset in the desert and the African hospitality to the fullest.
Directly on a nearby sand dune stand the four ‘dune-chalets’ with breathtaking views in a southwest direction over the Kalahari and its flora and fauna. Another six ‘exclusive chalets’ are located in the valley between the dunes overlooking the main lodge. Furthermore, there are four garden rooms in African colonial style and five extensively equipped campsites with private toilets and showers.
All rooms are elegantly and comfortably furnished and have private bathrooms with hot showers, running water and toilets. The chalet’s energy source is mostly solar power with a standby generator for backup. Relax at your chalet or come for a sundowner cocktail at the bespoke bar before enjoying dinner under the stars.
Located on the other side of the lodge, is the ‘boutique farmhouse’ was officially opened in May 2020. It offers plenty of space, comfort, great views and a fantastic safari experience. This exclusive part of the lodge showcases the best views of the dunes, looking out over the pans and provides you with the opportunity to interact with some of our wildlife in close proximity.
Ride a horse along the dunes, watch the wildlife, or be adventurous and help feed the cheetahs under the guidance of the experienced guides. Join a Bushman guided tour to experience the culture of the Koi-San and learn about their ancient traditions and amazing tactics of survival as the first human inhabitants on earth.
The owners truly strive to make your stay with them an unforgettable journey into life in the Kalahari!
