Kasikizi Bushcamp is the smaller, more rustic, sister camp to Luambe Camp. It is further south in the park allowing access to new loops and has a much more intimate true bushcamp feeling. Set to open in July 2020!

Kasikizi bushcamp is set in one of the most scenic and productive sections of Luambe National Park. The rustic camp overlooks a large open floodplain which holds large populations of Puku, Impala and Bushbuck which in turn attracts the predators. There is also a popular Elephant and Giraffe river-crossing point in front of camp which also adds to the excitement right from camp. The new camps location being further south in the park means new roads and loops will be opened up in the parks southern section, finally giving access to areas never traversed before.

The accommodation will be basic but comfortable, as a bushcamp should be! There will be three grass chalets, about 9 x 4m each. The camp will run off solar and each tent will have charging facilities, an en-suite open air bathroom with running water and shower. Each tent also sports a private veranda overlooking the stunning floodplain and Luangwa river. There will be a small thatched main bar area where lunch and snacks will be served. Most breakfasts and dinners will be enjoyed on the open floodplain with meals prepared on the open fire.

From Kasikizi one can explore southern Luambe on exciting game drives, both day and night. The camp is also ideally located for walking safaris as you can leave straight from camp and walk along the Luangwa river. From September to October there is also a Southern Carmine Bee-eater nesting colony within walking distance of camp for those incredible photographic opportunities. Tours to the local village which is supported by Luambe Conservation is also a must for those on extended stays.

Luambe NP is still recovering from years of uncontrolled poaching and no tourism activity. The park has seen a dramatic turnaround from those dark days, and wildlife sightings are now increasing steadily, although it is still not quite as productive as neighbouring South & North Luangwa National Parks. This means that more effort is required to find the target species, but also means they are more rewarding when encountered!
