Safari Rating
This safari hangs in the fine balance of luxury yet still authentic. All too often once a lodge goes into the ultra-luxury level it loses its authenticity, but these two careful selected camps are perfect for those seeking to enjoy a bit of luxury while still being in a truly wild area.
Itinerary in Brief
3 Nights at Misava Safari Camp
3 Nights at Ngala Tented Camp
Starting off in the Klaserie Nature Reserve, an area with plenty of big 5 activity and relatively low commercial activity! Then moving just slightly South into the Ngala Private Game Reserve, you change style of accommodation completely and, now find yourself in an authentic Luxury tented camp!
This 6-night luxury safari is well suited for anyone from single travellers, large groups and is perfect for honeymooners, who are seeking to experience the wild but want some added luxury. The accommodation is of high standard and you will find all the luxuries one needs to be comfortable in this pristine wilderness. For these two camps, you get what you pay for. High quality of just about everything is guaranteed including fine food and large selections of premium beverages. Detailed Itinerary
1st, 2nd & 3rd Nights: Misava Safari Camp
The camp has recently been refurbished and offers five chalets, accommodating a maximum of ten guests. Misava camp is perfect for multi-generational family safaris or small groups. Three chalets are authentic African rondavels (chalets) set amongst landscaped gardens. Each chalet features an en-suite bathroom with large shower, and is tasteful decorated and named after a local artist from the area, along with a framed copy of the artist biography and artwork. There are also two larger river view chalets which have unmatched views and slightly fancier facilities than the garden chalets.
The main area provides a comfortable lounge, a dining area along with a modern, spacious open plan kitchen, scullery and laundry. The outdoor areas incorporate a beautiful handcrafted wooden bar and rim flow pool overlooking the reserve, boma and another dining area. Best views around by far!
Guest can enjoy two guided game drives per day which are scheduled at the guests’ leisure. The professional guides provide and insight into the ecosystem of the bushveld, the traits of the animals and the diverse terrain and plant life, from flat planes to rocky outcrops and hilly landscapes. The reserve is home to a wide variety of predators, including lion, leopard, smaller cats, spotted hyenas, jackals and wild dogs.
4th, 5th & 6th Nights: Ngala Tented Camp
This luxury tented camp is set right on the banks of the famous Timbavati river. The main area and all tents are spread out along the edge of the mostly dry river bed. The tents are spacious, have a balcony to relax on, an en-suite bathroom and a mini bar! Simply put, just about all the luxuries of a luxury hotel are within the tents so fear not about the term “Tent”.
The area is for exclusive use of only 2 camps, so you will be experience the area without the major traffic jams of the rest of Kruger. Along with this, the game viewing in this area is particularly productive. With skilled guides and trackers, the 5 big sightings are normally excellent and perfect if you are into photography.
Last day
From Ngala one has three options to move onto the next stage of the trip. A road transfer to either Johannesburg for onward connections, or a shorter transfer to Eastgate airport and then a flight to Johannesburg for onward connections. The 3rd option is a day trip/safari through the public roads of the Kruger and then another night just outside Southern section of the park, where you can then catch a flight from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport the next day.
