Along the northern Mozambican coast lies the Quirimbas Archipelago in the Indian Ocean with its pristine coral reefs. This string of islands offers stunning white beaches, unspoiled marine environment and a sense of being far away from the tumult of the world. The warm waters are home to turtles, dolphins and migrating humpback whales with their calves (July to October). If game-fishing is your sport, you are likely to catch bonefish, marlin, mackerel, sailfish and dogtooth tuna while further out at sea. Of the 32 islands, only a handful offer eco-friendly accommodation in form of a secluded island getaway. Those high quality, low-impact resorts are working together with the surrounding communities to protect this unique environment which forms the Quirimbas National Park. Here you can enjoy white sandy beaches, a heart-warming cultural interaction, untouched coral reefs and turquoise water, rich in marine life.
