Safari Rating
Bringing the whole family on a safari can often be a really rewarding experience but sometimes tricky to do so as most of the well-known lodges have strict child age restrictions and policies. There are however a number of lodges that specialize in accommodating families and we have found two that complement each other well!
Itinerary in Brief
3 Nights at Africa On Foot
3 Nights at Simbavati River Lodge
Starting off in the Klaserie Nature Reserve, an area with plenty of big 5 activity and relatively low commercial activity! You will see yourself in a family friendly old classical Kruger style bush camp, a great introduction to the Lowveld and its traditional style camps. Then moving just slightly South into the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, you change scenery completely and now find yourself in the shade of large canopy trees along the banks of a river.
This 6-night family safari is well suited for parents looking to take their 5-year-old or older children along on a safari to camps where they will be well looked after and catered for. The accommodation is of a suitable standard and you will find all the amenities one needs to be comfortable in this pristine wilderness. Both camps are private and in prime locations so one can expect to experience this area without the mass tourism that the rest of Kruger is known for. This along with the friendly child accommodating staff makes for a great family retreat!
