Surrounded by untouched wilderness Kwessi Dunes Lodge offers twelve comfortable and beautifully decorated chalets with canvas walls, thatched roofs and air conditioning. In addition to the wonderful view of the surrounding desert, each bedroom has a separate, completely open, and uncovered room, so guests can have an unobstructed view of the fascinating starry sky and can fall asleep comfortably to this spectacular view. The main building of the lodge has an open common area with an inviting terrace and overlooking the fireplace, which is perfect for evening gatherings and relaxed sundowners in the middle of the remote Namib Desert to experience this unique scenery.

Apart from its remoteness and comfortable accommodation, guest can also enjoy exceptional activities. Beyond the traditional game drives, guests can also explore the surrounding area on horseback, which allows a completely different perspective on this landscape. For those who prefer more than horsepower, quad biking is an exciting and exhilarating alternative. And there is even the possibility of a hot air balloon ride or a nature walk.

Because then it becomes clear why the NamibRand Nature Reserve is Africa’s first excellent “International Dark Sky” reserve. As the desert is virtually uninhabited, there is no light pollution, making the nights one of the darkest in the world – apart from the stars, which cover the sky in a density that cannot be put into words. The possibility of stargazing surpasses all your expectations and only when you have really experienced it yourself can you understand how unique this spectacle is.
