La Clé des Montagnes

Drawing from the rich history of Franschhoek, this manor exudes an air of sophistication throughout the abundant interiors. The manoir is home to our main reception, lounge, library and dining at La Clé Village where guests come together for meals or to enjoy the rolling lawns, pool and ample living spaces.

With a team of chefs, the cuisine is dynamic and fresh, from local-style ‘braais’ to laden breakfast tables, personalised picnics, private dining and Chef’s Table dinners on select evenings. The Lodge offers simple evening meals with a South African twist, and delicious platters to enjoy with a glass of wine from the Franschhoek valley overlooking the vineyards. All of the meals are centered around using what is available seasonally and the Lodge aims to source as much as they can from the surrounding areas.

The Lodge enjoys the unique position of being on a wine farm but just 5 minutes’ walk from the bustling Franschhoek main street, bursting with the country’s top restaurants, galleries, local wines and unforgettable experiences, such as the Franschhoek Wine Tram which departs from the town’s centre, on varying routes of wine tasting pleasure!

Nestled in picturesque vineyards and plum orchards in the Cape Winelands, you can also simply enjoy the grounds of your hotel, and spend time savouring a picnic in the lush gardens,  enjoy a refreshing dip in crystal pools or simply enjoying the ample space that comes with a stay in any of our private villas.

Garden suites: At Manoir, there is an air of history redefined with nods to traditional style, yet modern finesse as a result of the design philosophy held by Jacques Erasmus. The suite’s magnificent bedroom leads onto a grand walk-in dressing room which connects to the expansive bathroom. Wonder through to a secluded terrace overlooking the gardens, vines and mountains with the Petite Room adjacent making for the perfect family stay. This suite’s terrace door is significant for us and holds the key to our name, “La Clé des Montagnes”. With Colonial’s Garden Suite, guests are treated to bright colours and modern lines which create a space of eye-catching comfort. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors spill outwards to a private terrace which over looks the shared pool and vineyards beyond. Romance is the essence of this suite where guests embrace a sense of togetherness with the splendid lifestyle of Colonial.

Garden Rooms: Designed for elegant living with high ceilings and spacious interiors, the Gardens Rooms of La Clé des Montagnes are a haven for those seeking out a Winelands retreat. All these en-suite rooms offer guests the opportunity to escape into local history with antique accents collected from throughout the Western Cape. Coupled with modern styling, the Garden Rooms are both rustic and refined. Cocoon in luxurious bed linen or step outside onto the terraces which offer expansive views of the gardens, vineyards and/or mountains beyond.
