Pafuri Trails Camp

Regarded as the best walking area in the Kruger National Park, the Makuleke Concession, or Pafuri, is blessed with exceptional biodiversity and scenery. Using the camp site as a base, each day is spent in different parts of the surrounding area, walking along pathways made over the years by its animal inhabitants. Access to sites of phenomenal scenic and historical value as well as abundant game, spectacular scenery, a sense of history and a true feeling of wilderness characterises this Exploration. Wildlife includes nyala, buffalo herds, and seasonal elephant; more elusive residents of the area are white rhino, lion and leopard. For the keen birder, the Pafuri Walking Trail is a must.

Pafuri Walking Safari’s offers two-man canvas tents with twin beds and can accommodate a maximum of 8 guests. Bookings of 6 or more in one group gives guests exclusive use of the camp.

Tent details: Walk-in canvas tents, with en-suite chemical toilet. Separately located within the camp are two bucket showers, hot water is provided daily. All tents sit on a raised wooden platform.

On walking safaris you can expect to encounter an array of changing landscapes, from bushveld to riverine forests, mountains to floodplains, and perennial pans which all attract a spectacular variety of animals and birds. Discover forests of fever trees, groves of baobabs and a diverse collection of wildlife. Highlights of the experience include visits to Crook’s Corner, where the Luvuvhu and Limpopo Rivers meet, Lanner Gorge and the fever tree forest.
