With design and comfort the core essense of The Peech DNA, combined with flawless service and an illustrious history of satisfied guests, this marks Johannesburg’s top rated Boutique hotel as a landmark hotel. An icon.

The Peech was originally a private residence built in 1950’s and a family home for more than 40 years. Purchased by James Peech in 2002, and first opening it’s doors as The Peech Hotel in 2004, the property has since been restored and developed to become Johannesburg’s most iconic boutique hotel, offering five different room types, two restaurants and two acres of lush gardens.

Luxury Rooms are the newest rooms and are spread throughout the hotel’s lush gardens. They feature oak floors, huge walk-in raindance showers, and large patios.

Well-appointed Classic Rooms are offer lovely views across the lush gardens and pool area.  Each room has either a private balcony or patio for guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful central gardens.

Heritage rooms are located upstairs in the property’s original residence and adjacent to each other. They’re designed around the character of the old house, and both have beautiful garden views.

Suites are the most spacious rooms and are located in an especially quiet part of the gardens for the ultimate tranquil urban hideaway. They feature extra-large bathrooms and an expansive, open-plan living space.

The 2 Bedroom Villa offers a Master and Second Bedroom, both with en-suite bathrooms, connected via a central lounge/TV area. Features a private outdoor space, with al fresco dining area and water feature.

Sandton, the city’s business & shopping hub, is ten minutes away. Rosebank (nearest Gautrain) & Melrose Arch are five minutes. Johannesburg International airport is 45 minutes by car.

The Peech features two restaurants on the property. One is reserved for hotel guests only and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. The second, Basalt, is open to the public for dinners Tuesday to Saturday. Bookings are essential at Basalt.

Freddie Dias, former Head Chef at The Pot Luck Club in Cape Town, heads up both restaurants assisted by seasoned Maître D, Lyle Scott (previously Westcliff Four Seasons and Marabi Club). Freddie sums up his menu as “contemporary global cuisine”. He aims to bring an authentic and real approach to food, using the best locally sourced seasonal produce and a straight-forward selection of entrées, mains, and desserts, with specials added as ingredients allow.
