Uplands Homestead

In the heart of Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, you’ll find this tranquil homestead, ready to welcome you and your family for an unforgettable luxury experience. Here, 22,000 hectares (54,000 acres) of pristine wilderness is home to the famous Big 5 as well as a diverse number of smaller and more unusual species. Thousands of animals including lion, black and white rhino, buffalo, elephant and cheetah roam these expansive plains. The Reserve is also sanctuary to numerous other threatened and endangered species.

Experience & Activities     

A private safari vehicle with ranger and tracker offers a completely flexible itinerary for daily game drives, nature walks, big game walking safaris (tracking white rhino, black rhino, elephant, and buffalo on foot), and fishing. Back at the homestead, there is a full-size swimming pool and gazebo set amongst rolling lawns, surrounded on all sides by sweeping slopes decorated with hundreds of aloes. 

Whilst there are no running machines or gym facilities on the reserve, there are plenty of ways to keep fit during your stay. Embark on a walking safari with one of the experienced guides and stretch your legs whilst learning about the smaller flora and fauna of the reserve. Or, choose to track big game and raise your heart rate in more ways than one! 

The airstrip also provides an excellent running track; fenced and perfectly tarmacked, a guide will accompany you to the ‘track’ whilst you get your laps in. 

In addition to daily activities, dedicated specialist rangers are on hand for those who are searching for a private experience. Tailormade to every wish, these specialist experiences include walking, fishing, birding, or photographic safaris and are designed to create lasting memories and a connection to the wilds. 

To end the day, wellness treatments are offered in the privacy of your suite. 

Accommodations    

Three suites with private verandas and ensuite bathrooms combine modern comfort with old-fashioned luxury. Antique mirrors and yellowwood chests and wardrobes blend seamlessly with air-conditioning, in-room safes, underfloor heating, and other modern conveniences. The kitchen is the homestead’s heart and soul where meals are created to be shared by friends and family under the African sky.
