Tongole Wilderness Lodge in Malawi comprises five open-fronted river-view suites. The central relaxation areas feature several secluded and elevated areas where guests find privacy and enjoy drinks with stunning river views and sunsets over the mountains. They can relax by the shaded pool deck on comfy loungers, share experiences, and make new friends around the fire pit under the African star-studded canopy. Guests can enjoy the tranquillity and sheer natural beauty of the Bua River by canoe. Look out for diverse birdlife activity, riverside waterfalls, and thirsty wildlife. Or, explore the Miombo woodlands, lush rainforest, vast stretches of tall grassland, and the riverine on an open vehicle game drive or walking safari.

Guests can also meet the local Malawian community and experience the positive impacts of the Tongole Foundation while learning about Malawian art and cultural heritage. And for an added adventure, guests can take to the bush overnight at the fly camp. Set on a raised deck, guests can sleep inside the comfort of a dome tent or in the open air under mosquito nets.

Accommodations

Four spacious riverside suites comfortably accommodate two adults. Two of these suites have super-king double beds, and the other two have twin beds that can be joined. All are en-suite with twin marble basins, a large, hand-built shower, and a sunken bathtub, both of which are big enough for two! Wraparound wooden decking offers stunning views over the river and forest. The family cottage is handcrafted by local artisans from the same distinctive red earth and rock upon which Tongole stands. In addition to a second bedroom, the cottage provides extra communal space.
