Maputo
Mozambique’s revived capital city Maputo, far south of the country, is a great place to enjoy colourful markets, local music and cafés serving spicy peri peri dishes. Enjoy a day or two in this bustling city and then head further south for some attractive Mozambique beach resorts such as White Pearl Resort, Machangulo Beach Lodge or Anvil Bay.
Maputo Special Reserve
Combine a luxury Mozambican tropical beach experience and diving holiday with an exciting bush safari all in the same place! Located just 100 kilometres southeast of Maputo, Maputo Special Reserve
was established in the 1930s to protect southern Africa’s last remaining coastal elephants. In 2010 other animal species were reintroduced like wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, warthog and numerous antelope species. Today, the community forms part of the conservation efforts and receives income through the park’s revenue and special projects. Apart from the free roaming animals, the Reserve offers fascinating landscaped to discover including vast, idyllic beaches, wetlands and lakes as well as mangrove and sand forests.
