Detailed Itinerary
1st, 2nd & 3rd Nights: Savuti Mobile Safari
The Savuti region of the Chobe National Park is located between the Okavango Delta and the town of Kasane in the North East of Botswana. The area is normally fairly dry and arid as the Savuti channel flows rarely and seemingly unpredictably from the Linyanti swamp to the Savuti marsh. The area consists of small rocky outcrops, fairly dense Kalahari woodlands and also vast open grasslands in the marsh – which all attracts and holds strong concentrations of wildlife. The area was made famous for the number of documentaries filmed there, which focus mostly on the predators and their behaviours having to adapt to the random changes in water abundance. The most recent being “Savage Kingdom”.
Mobile safaris follow an old tried and tested formula that ‘takes everything along, but leaves nothing behind’. The safari crew uses a truck to ‘transport the camp’ and they will setup camp before you arrive. Accommodation is in the form of a private canvas setup, specifically for the safari and then moved to the next location by the mobile crew.
Guests can decide the level of luxury of the camp, but all will be in private tents (with proper beds) with on-suite bathroom, including a bucket shower (with hot water!) and basic toilet. The safaris are fully guided by the best local guides and guests travel in open game viewing vehicles between locations. The food is prepared by an experienced bush chef who prepares delicious meals on the open fire.
4th, 5th & 6th Nights: Khwai Magotho Camp
The Khwai concession is located on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta with the Khwai river forming the boundary between the Moremi Game Reserve and the concession. The area is home to some of the best game viewing as the herbivores from the drier surrounds are forced to come to the Khwai river in order to drink. This in turn supports large concentrations of predators especially leopards and if you are lucky, also Painted wolves.

7th, 8th, 9th & 10th Nights: Wild Expeditions Safari's
This is a serious Okavango expedition safari! Led by one of Botswana’s most experienced guides and guide trainer, Okwa Sarefo. A good friend of Gesa and Frank, Okwa was born and raised in the Delta where he now follows his passion of sharing this water and wildlife paradise with guests from all over the world in his own authentic and personal way.
The expedition starts from Maun from where you boat into the Delta for a few hours (wildlife all the way!) until you are well and truly deep into its untouched wilderness. You will arrive in a pre-setup basic mobile camp where the friendly camp staff and chef will be catering to your needs over the next few nights. The accommodation is in the form of dome tents with proper beds, en-suite pitfall toilet and a bucket shower. All the creature comforts one needs out here in paradise.
This camp will be your base from where you will explore the surrounding area and nearby islands on foot in un-armed walking trips, by mokoro (traditional canoe) and also by boating. Combine these fantastic low impact activities with Okwa’s wealth of local knowledge and experience in the Delta creates what we think is the ultimate way to explore this wilderness!
The camp will likely move twice over this 4-night period.
Meals: All inclusive
Last day:
A boat ride from the Delta sees you arriving at Maun on time for onward connections.
