Nestled on the banks of the Kwando river, Camp Kwando invites you to come and explore the hidden treasures of an untamed land. Capture the spirit of the African bush while sipping sundowners from the beautiful deck and experience the thrill of the hauntingly beautiful call of the African fish eagle.

Camp Kwando is set upon the banks of the Kwando River in the Nkasa Rupara National Park between the Botswana border and the Mudumu Game Reserve. The camp offers comfortable tented accommodation as well as good campsites.
The island-section of the camp accommodates 13 thatched tents on the bank of the river, each with two beds equipped with a mosquito nets. The tent is on raised platform with a deck overlooking the river. The thatched roofs guarantee a good thermal regulation, that is, not too hot in summer and not too cold in the winter. Every tent has an en suite bathroom with shower, a toilet and a basin with hot and cold water. Electricity is provided by solar power.
There are also 6 larger chalets on stilts on higher ground, built on high poles, made of wood and canvas, along with thatched roofs. Conveniently placed in the middle of the trees, they allow for an incredible view of the Botswana plains. Each chalet on stilts has a large bedroom, stylishly furnished; a large en-suite bathroom, as well as an expanding deck.
The camping is situated between the main building and the island. The surface is covered by grass and magnificent trees providing shade during the hotter hours of the day. Four private campsites provide a lot of space, private ablution as well as a braai/BBQ place, fireplace and of course hot/cold water and electricity during generator hours. Campers are more than welcome at the bar and to use the pool too.
Another more remote option for campers is the Bush Camp, nestled on an island in the flood plains of the Kwando River amidst palms and towering trees. Bush Camp offers 4 private campsites in a lush tropical paradise, each their own braai/BBQ facilities and a thatched under cover area. Each campsite also has electricity (generator times), their own ablution, toilets and hot and cold running water for showers.
The camp’s roomy dining room, open on its riverside flank, can accommodate up to thirty guests from where you can keep an eye on the passing fauna of crocodiles and hippos while enjoying lunch or dinner.
When the excitement of the bush wanes, between game drives and swamp boat trips, the swimming pool is there for you to enjoy, close to the tents and the island. Around it, you can relax in the shady area, where long chairs and comfortable “bush-beds” are conveniently placed on the grass.
Activities at Camp Kwando are fishing, birding, boating, village and school visits, self-guided nature trails and self-drive game drives. The camp also offers activities for kids such as a fishing activity during which the children will make their own fishing rods and learn how the local community catch fish. A basket weaving activity allows kids to discover the ancestral technique of basket weaving.
