Experience & Activities
This is a camp where young people from all over the world can experience an unforgettable journey through the savannah, cloud forests, hills, and reserves in Kenya’s Chyulu Hills.
Young people will develop and promote ecotourism by understanding the issues facing the ecosystem and learning how wild animals can be best protected. They will exchange ideas with the Maasai and local communities through artistic projects and teaching in local schools. The carbon negative is achieved through an afforestation programme funded by Le Rosey.
Fully-powered by solar energy, the camp uses photovoltaic panels for electricity and hot water. The camp recycles all waste and treats grey and black waters with ecological techniques. All kitchens are powered by induction and all Land Rovers are retrofitted with an electric motor.
The camp is equipped to welcome up to 60 students. It boasts an authentic African lounge, dining room, library, conference room, outdoor fireplace and communal café.
At Chyulu Wilderness Camp, campers participate in projects across four main areas – Adventure Expedition, Community Volunteering, Conservation, and Mindfulness – for a memorable, hands-on experience of eco-tourism and sustainable development in the heart of the African savannah.
