Itinerary in Brief
1 Night Ololo Lodge and Farm
3 Nights Saruni Wild
3 Nights Saruni Rhino
3 Nights Campi Ya Kanzi
4 Nights Manda Bay
On arrival into Nairobi do a short transfer to Ololo Safari Lodge and Farm on the edge of the Nairobi National Park. The adventure starts right away at this wonderful farmhouse, home of an Australian farming family. This is a real ‘home away from home’ and food is prepared using the extensive range of fresh produce from the farm. With the farm bordering the National Park you are guaranteed to fall asleep with sounds of the African bush all around you all night long!
The next morning after a scrumptious farm breakfast transfer to Wilson Airport for a short flight to the Masai Mara. Upon arrival game drive to Saruni Wild for the start of your Mara adventure. With only 3 tents Saruni Wild offers utter seclusion and total authenticity as you are immersed in nature and have the unforgettable experience of being under canvas in the middle of the wilderness. Surrounded by tens of thousands hectares of pristine, untouched wilderness, the camp has the most classic Masai Mara setting. The wildlife thrives right next to your tent! After four action packed days of day and night game drives, bush walks and some of the best game viewing on offer in the whole of Africa, it will be time to game drive to the nearby airstrip and your flight to Sarani Rhino in Samburu, Northern Kenya.
Saruni Rhino is a three ‘banda’ (stone cottage with a thatched roof and canvas roll down windows) rustic and intimate camp located in the Sera Community Conservancy, 350 000-hectares of unspoilt wilderness. The camp is located a half hour’s drive from the community-owned and managed Sera Rhino Sanctuary, the first in East Africa where black rhino can be tracked on foot, a wonderful and exhilarating adventure! Spent the three days at Saruni Rhino immersing in the wildlife and unique culture of the Samburu people. An adventure not to be forgotten anytime soon!
The next destination is Chyulu Hills in the south of Kenya, which is reached by flying from Samburu via Nairobi and onto Amboseli. Your stay for the next 3 days is Campi ya Kanzi where owners and hosts, Luca and Antonella, will warmly welcome you to your home in the bush. Campi ya Kanzi offers what they like to call ‘appropriate luxury’, which is less about infinity and plunge pools and Wi-Fi in your tent, and more about living a real safari experience in the Maasai wilderness, 1900 square km exclusively for guests! The camp offers a truly amazing array of activities that are authentic and will immerse you in the wilderness, wildlife and culture. These include scenic flights around Kilimanjaro and over the Chyulu Hills, visits to Tsavo and the famous hippos of Mzima Springs, an old-fashioned ‘fly camping’ tented overnight safari, horse-back riding, short or day long bush walks, transcendental meditation courses, and yoga classes, visits and presentations by conservation scientists at the nearby Chyulu Conservation and Research Centre….the list of things you will find nowhere else, goes on and on! The four days at Campi ya Kanzi will be over long before you are ready to move on, but luckily you will have the adventures of Manda Bay awaiting you….
From Chyulu Hills you will fly to the Kenyan Coast and north towards the Lamu Archipelago, with Manda Bay as your destination. Manda Bay is a small boutique lodge located on the tip of an unspoiled, idyllic island in Lamu’s archipelago where you kick off your shoes and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm thatched cottages and open living spaces. Manda Bay is perfect for honeymooners, families and groups looking to enjoy time together. Located on the archipelago of islands that make up Manda, the lodge is a 30-minute boat ride from the stunning Swahili coastal town of Lamu. Activities at Manda Bay can keep even the most active guest busy for their whole stay. At Manda Bay, activities available include: sailing, kayaking, wind surfing, kite surfing, beach walks, guided tours around Manda island ruins, deep sea fishing, water-skiing, wakeboarding, banana boating, donating, line fishing, fly fishing, bottom fishing, snorkelling, visits to the cultural town of Lamu, Shela and Tawka ruins, swimming pool, table tennis, darts, pool table, yoga studio, gym and workout room.
