Kicheche Bush Camp Masai Mara

A classic East Africa Safari exposing you to the great apes, the great migration, great photographic opportunities and a great island escape to end it all off. If you wanted to cover the best of East Africa in one trip, let this be the one for you!

The safari starts with 3 nights at the base of Volcanoes National Park, very close to the starting point for Gorilla trekking in their forest habitat! This is one of the most incredible wildlife experiences on our planet and cannot be recommended highly enough. With 3 nights, there’s ample time for a second trek or to explore some of the other activities on offer in the area! From Volcanoes, eventually make your way to Kigali where you will spend 1 night relaxing or exploring Rwanda’s vibrant and friendly capitol city. From Kigali, a flight will take you to Nairobi in Kenya, where a charter flight will be waiting to fly you into the Masai Mara region. Spend 3 nights here exploring Africa’s most famous wildlife region in search of the predators and abundance of other wildlife. One great aspect of this itinerary is that you don’t have to worry about timing for the migration, as right after the Mara you will charter flight to the Tanzanian border, complete border formalities, then charter flight into the Serengeti National Park where you will be accommodated at a mobile migration camp that follows the migration all year. This gives great flexibility and makes this itinerary fantastic ALL YEAR ROUND. Spend 3 nights in the Migration Camp following the wildebeest action as the millions move on their natural path. Now that you’ve experienced the greatest wildlife show on Earth, it’s time for some relaxation on Zanzibar Island. A charter flight out of the Serengeti to Arusha and an onward flight to Zanzibar soon has you arriving in a luxury beachside resort and spa to unwind and enjoy white sand beaches! The perfect way to end you East African Adventure.

The East Africa Safari captures the essence of classic east Africa, exposing you to the great apes, the great migration and beach retreat all in one. This safari is aimed mostly at mid-range and above travellers as it involves many internal flights with fixed costs. The flights are also great because you don’t spend entire days in transit by vehicle, but rather have short scenic flights between destinations.

Nights 5-7: Kicheche Bush Camp

The Camp is located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy and consists of only 6 tents making it a very intimate camp. There is only 1 bed per 140 ha of wilderness, making the whole safari experience exclusive. The guiding is also top notch and with a real understanding and focus on photography. The Camp is located in the Conservancy, but close to the border of the National Reserve which is our view the best location in the Mara. The density of large predators is arguably the highest in Africa. The conservancy model adopted by the Conservancy pays the local land owners higher amounts of rent in return for more exclusivity.

The 6 tents are identical and is set far apart to ensure privacy. The tents are also very large compared to normal safari tents and during day time can be opened up completely. The tents are stylishly furnished with a small lounge area in front. Each tent has a spacious en-suite bathroom with a traditional bucket shower. There is also the simple luxury of an elegant common area for relaxing, having tea or dining. Lunch is often served outside under the trees,

The Camp focus on game drives with mostly 4 guests per vehicle and superb guides with a real understanding of photography. Being in a conservancy off-road driving and night drives are possible, ensuring a real close up and personal experience with the iconic large animals.

The Camp also offers bush walks and in addition there is a walking safari option to the other Kicheche camps in the Mara, with a one-night sleepout in a fly camp on the way.

Nights 8-10: Serengeti Safari Camp

Serengeti Safari Camp was designed to follow the annual wildebeest migration that happens in the Serengeti ecosystem. In doing so this mobile camp moves 4-5 times a year to carefully selected sites which not only give great access to the migration but are also set a bit further from the crowds which adds to the privacy.

There are in fact two identical Serengeti Safari camp’s which are separate from one another, which by so doing they have managed to keep each camp small and intimate with only 6 guest tents each. Each tent has large beds, a dressing room and a bathroom where you will find an eco-flush toilet and a classic bucket shower system. The family tent has two en-suite bedrooms with a shared sitting area.

There is a separate lounge and dining tent where guests can relax and enjoy the fantastic food. And of course, there is also a much-needed fireplace to enjoy ones deserved sundowner drinks.

The main event for Serengeti Safari Camp is to enjoy the wildebeest migration. From Dec to Apr the camp is in the southern Serengeti Plains for the birthing seasons, from May to Jul the camp is around Moru Kopjes/Central Serengeti/Western Corridor and then in mid Jul to Nov the camp moves to northern Serengeti for the crossing of the Mara river.
