Tintswalo Family Camp is strategically positioned to offer a unique safari experience, with the option of a kosher kitchen, all within a 3 hour drive from Johannesburg. Welcoming children of all ages, the camp is protected by electric fencing against predators and other dangerous game to allow young guests the freedom to enjoy the outside areas. It offers a choice of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom suites accommodating up to 16 guests and is also available on an exclusive-use basis, which is suited to bigger family groups or executive breakaways where one party takes over the full camp.

Traditional South African meals are served in various locations around the lodge, including unforgettable boma dinners enjoyed beneath the sparkling Milky Way, or indulgent wholesome meals may be shared on the expansive open lodge deck. The main lounge area provides a warm and welcoming ambience with its large fireplaces. Guests are able to relax and enjoy the expansive veranda overlooking the valley below the unspoiled African bush with no light pollution.

The Welgevonden Game Reserve comprises 40,000 hectares of pristine bushveld and ranks amongst Southern Africa’s largest private game reserves. It forms part of the only savanna biosphere reserve in the world. It has the greatest variety of plains game, is home to South Africa’s Big Five, and is malaria free.

Game drives include open 4×4 safari vehicles equipped with radios for communication, ponchos for wet weather and individual blankets for early morning and evening chills, as well as spotlights for night viewing. The experienced guides are fully accredited and offer interpretive educational drives throughout the reserve. Group activities and itineraries can be booked in advance, and activities may be arranged for children.

Accommodations

• The Roller Bird and the Kingfisher Suites are three-bedroom units with a veranda overlooking the wilderness and are linked to the main lodge via meandering pathways.  In each suite, the main bedroom has a king bed and a full en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers. The second bedroom has a double bed, and the third bedroom has two single beds. These two rooms share a bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower.
• The Eagle Suite is a two-bedroom unit with views overlooking the reserve and is linked to the main lodge via meandering pathways. In each suite, the main bedroom has a king bed and a full en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers. The second bedroom has two single beds and a full en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers.
• The Owl Suite and the Crested Barbet Suite are one-bedroom units with views overlooking the reserve and are linked to the main lodge via meandering pathways. The rooms includes a king bed and a full en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and indoor and outdoor shower.
