Kasanka National Park

"Home of the largest mammal migration in the world"

Kasanka may be one of the smallest National Parks in Zambia, but what it lacks in size it makes up in beauty and numbers…. bats in the millions!

This peaceful sanctuary is rich in diversity with wetlands, forests and meadows, each attracting very different wildlife. The National Park is best known as being the home to the largest congregation of mammals in the world, the fruit bat. From November to December each year, 10 million bats settle down in Bat Forest (a small area inside the park) to feed on the area’s abundance of ripening fruit. It is a remarkable sight, which needs to be seen to be believed.
