At EcoTraining Camps, comfort and an immersive bush experience go hand in hand. Here’s what you can expect in terms of accommodation and meals:

Accommodation

  • Shared Tents: The standard accommodation is shared tents, each housing two participants. These tents are designed to provide both comfort and an authentic bush experience.
  • Single Accommodation Option: Single accommodation is available upon request for those seeking privacy. Please note that this option requires payment at double the standard rate.
  • Co-Ed Arrangements: As a standard policy, men and women are only paired in the same tent if they’ve booked together.

Meals

  • Early Morning Wake-Up: Start your day with a selection of tea, coffee, biscuits, fresh fruit, and cereal – a perfect energiser for the day’s activities.
  • Brunch Post-Activity: Enjoy a hearty brunch comprising a cooked breakfast and a refreshing fruit salad after your morning session.
  • Afternoon Tea: A light lunch or sandwich selection is available for a midday meal, keeping you fueled for the afternoon activities.

The Safari Guide course is hosted at one of two beautiful locations, depending on the start date of your course. These include:

  • Mashatu Camp is nestled in the northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana, which is known for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.
  • Karongwe Camp is located in South Africa, it is famous for its rich biodiversity and excellent game-viewing opportunities.

Departure from Johannesburg

  • Assembly Point: On the first day of the course, all participants are expected to gather at the Emerald Guesthouse.
  • Scheduled Departure: The EcoTraining BushBus transfer to the camp departs precisely at 7 am from the Emerald Guesthouse at 19 Halifax Rd, Kempton Park.
  • Overnight Stay Recommended: To accommodate this early departure, it is advisable for participants, especially those flying into Johannesburg (both international and domestic travellers), to arrive a day earlier and stay overnight at the Emerald Backpackers/Guesthouse.

  • Proximity to OR Tambo International Airport: The guest house is close to the airport, making it easily accessible for incoming students.
