The Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve is part of the largest conservation area in South Africa and it is the oldest of all the private reserves. It was formed in 1950 and comprises of many privately-owned game lodges, covering an area of 65 000 hectare of savannah thornveld. It is part of the Greater Kruger National Park where there are no fences, so the game moves freely through this enormous natural reserve. This is one of South Africa’s most treasured natural sanctuaries.

Sabi Sands is one of the best destinations to see leopards, where these elusive creatures can often be spotted on game drives. Night driving and off-road driving are possible, ensuring guests can get up really close and personal at sightings. This is one of the best locations for photographers looking for those special predator sightings. Also given the prolific wildlife in the area, it is a great destination for travellers with limited time, or a once-off safari. Guests will find that Sabi Sands offers a range of safari activities, including game drives and bush walks – the best way to experience Africa’s wildlife.

Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve’s great wildlife experience is complemented by outstanding accommodation, as the game reserve boasts a number of wonderful lodges from three- to five-star grading. Some of the very best in Africa!

There are two airports in the area, the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) close to Nelspruit and the Skukuza airport inside the Kruger Park. KMIA is 45 minutes away by road transfer and has international connections such as Victoria Falls and Lusaka, which is very convenient for travellers on a multi-country tour. The Skukuza airport in turn is a great option as the transfer between the airport and the lodges is a great game drive!
