Why we like it
- Exceptional location beneath the only elevated landmark in the Central Kalahari
- Private concession offering exclusive and uncrowded safari experiences
- Diverse activities including cultural encounters and e-bike safaris
- Incredible stargazing thanks to zero light pollution
Great Tsau Hill sits at the foot of the only significant geological feature within the vast Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Located in a 40,000-hectare private concession, the camp offers sweeping panoramic views across an untouched semi-arid wilderness. Because the hill rises above the surrounding plains, guests experience a rare sense of scale and perspective unique to this region.
As part of the Roots & Journeys collection, the camp provides a distinctive contrast to traditional delta safaris, focusing instead on desert-adapted wildlife, cultural connection, and immersive exploration.

Great Tsau Hill Camp lies within the immense Central Kalahari Game Reserve, one of Africa’s largest protected wilderness areas. The surrounding landscape stretches endlessly across open savannah and fossil pans, creating a powerful feeling of remoteness.
Despite the semi-arid environment, the region supports remarkable biodiversity. Guests may encounter brown hyena, aardvark, Kalahari lions, aardwolves, gemsbok, springbok, and bat-eared foxes. Consequently, wildlife viewing feels both rewarding and unpredictable, adding to the sense of true exploration.
The camp itself blends naturally into the landscape, allowing guests to experience the Kalahari in comfort while remaining closely connected to nature.
