What makes this combination truly special is the contrast. Your journey begins with four nights under canvas in exclusive wilderness campsites, exploring Moremi Game Reserve on twice-daily game drives with your dedicated guide. You’ll track lions through mopane woodland, watch wild dogs hunt across open floodplains, and experience the raw connection of sleeping surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

Then everything changes. You transfer by light aircraft to Setari Camp, a stunning water-based camp set within a 120,000-acre private concession of pristine Okavango wilderness. Here, game drives give way to mokoro excursions gliding silently through papyrus channels, boat safaris navigating lily-covered lagoons, and walking safaris on palm-fringed islands. The pace slows. The perspective shifts. And after four nights of authentic bush camping, the upgraded accommodation—elevated tented suites with freestanding baths and floodplain views—feels like a well-earned reward.

This is not simply two safaris stitched together. It’s a complete Botswana experience that reveals the country’s remarkable diversity through fundamentally different lenses.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1–4: Mobile Tented Camp, Moremi Game Reserve

Welcome to Botswana! Your safari begins at Maun International Airport, where most international flights arrive around midday. You’ll be met by your guide, introduced to any fellow guests, and depart by road for the start of your adventure.

The drive to camp takes approximately 4–5 hours, with arrival expected around sunset on the first day. The initial hour is tar road, followed by gravel before crossing the veterinary fence. From there, wildlife viewing is possible all the way to camp—keep your cameras ready!

Over the next three full days, you’ll explore this wildlife-rich region of the Okavango Delta on twice-daily game drives. The typical programme:

Morning:

You’ll be woken shortly before sunrise for freshly brewed coffee and breakfast around the campfire. As soon as there’s enough light, you’ll depart for your morning game drive in search of the abundant wildlife. Halfway through, you’ll stop for a coffee break and biscuits before continuing and slowly heading back to camp.

Midday:

Depending on the morning’s action, you’ll arrive back at camp shortly before midday for a well-deserved lunch. Afternoon siesta time is ideal for charging equipment and requesting your bucket shower—it’s easiest to shower during daylight.

Afternoon:

After tea, you’ll head out for the afternoon game drive, typically a shorter excursion following up on the morning’s action. You’ll often stop in a scenic spot for sundowner drinks as the sun sets—unless wildlife activity is too good to leave!

Evening:

Return to camp where a crackling fire awaits. Relax with drinks while your bush chef prepares a three-course dinner cooked over the open flame. After dinner, retire to your tent surrounded by the sounds of the African night.

Experience & Activities:

  • Twice-daily game drives in open 4×4 vehicles
  • Exceptional predator viewing—lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, and hyena
  • Diverse habitats including mopane woodland, floodplains, and lagoon systems
  • Campfire breakfasts and sundowner drinks in scenic locations
  • Gourmet bush cuisine prepared over open fire

Accommodation:

Your mobile camp features spacious walk-in canvas tents (Mini-Meru style) with proper camp beds and quality bedding. Each tent includes an en-suite bush bathroom with bucket shower (hot water on request) and private toilet. The camp is set up in an exclusive designated campsite where no other travellers will be present.

Day 5–7: Setari Camp, Okavango Delta

On the morning of Day 5, enjoy a final game drive or sleep in (depending on flight times), then transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Setari Camp.

The contrast is immediate. Arriving over the Okavango Delta by air, you’ll see the intricate network of channels, lagoons, and islands that make this UNESCO World Heritage Site one of the world’s most remarkable ecosystems. Setari Camp sits within a private 120,000-acre concession of pristine watery wilderness—exclusivity and seclusion are guaranteed.

Unlike Moremi’s focus on game drives, Setari is all about water. The camp enjoys year-round water levels, meaning mokoro and boating activities are available regardless of season. This is a pure Delta experience where you’ll trade the rumble of a safari vehicle for the silence of a traditional dugout canoe gliding through papyrus channels.

Experience & Activities:

  • Mokoro excursions: Glide silently through the Delta’s channels in traditional dugout canoes, experiencing the waterways at eye level
  • Boat safaris: Explore the wider lagoons and channels by motorboat, accessing areas unreachable by mokoro
  • Walking safaris: Explore neighbouring islands on foot, searching for elephant, sitatunga, and the diverse birdlife
  • Exceptional birding: The area is a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with migrant species, aquatic birds, raptors, and seasonal heronries. The hauntingly beautiful Pel’s Fishing Owl is a specialty here
  • Helicopter scenic flights: Available at additional cost for a breathtaking aerial perspective of the Delta

Wildlife Highlights:

Setari’s island is home to the rare and regal sitatunga antelope, bushbuck, a resident leopard, hippo, baboons, and regular elephant visitors. The aquatic environment supports exceptional birdlife year-round.

Accommodation:

Setari Camp features nine double tented suites and one family suite, all built high in the trees overlooking the floodplain beyond. Each suite has been stylishly furnished with en-suite bathrooms featuring outdoor shower and freestanding bath. The main area includes a swimming pool, gym, and spacious dining and lounge spaces—all with spectacular views over the surrounding wilderness.

After four nights of authentic bush camping, the upgraded comfort of Setari feels like a well-earned reward: that first proper shower, that glass of wine on your private deck watching the sunset over the floodplain, that soak in a freestanding tub under the stars.

Day 7 – Departure:

Enjoy a final morning activity before transferring to the airstrip for your flight to Maun, connecting with your onward arrangements.
