Nanzhila Safaris operates in the closest true safari area in Zambia to the Victoria Falls and enjoys nearly 3000 sqkm almost to itself. An incredible variety of wildlife and birding species are to be found across our 2 magnificent camp locations that compliment each other perfectly. Our original Plains Camp and her rolling grasslands has recently been joined by our Lake Camp on the game rich shorelines where the Musa River joins Lake Itezhi-tezhi.

Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp is situated in the remote southern section of the Kafue National Park, on the edge of a large Dambo (seasonal floodplain) amongst Jackelberry and Sausage trees.

The ability to link up Livingstone with the Southern Kafue using Nanzhila Safaris’ Plains Camp has allowed safari enthusiasts to combine the Victoria Falls and a safari experience in a smoother way than any other safari region in Zambia.

The camp has a large thatched lounge and dining area on an elevated teak deck. Don’t be surprised to hear buck crunching twigs underfoot, or the ripping sound of branches as elephants strip the trees close by.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner times are flexible and governed by activities. Meals are wholesome and prepared in the traditional way – they are served either in the boma or at the adjoining communal fireplace/outdoor dining area.

Experience & Activities

Game drives, bush walks, visits to the waterholes and sundowners are all available within the Kafue region. Most clients will see at least 12 different antelope species on an average three night stay at Nanzhila and stand a good chance of adding lion, elephant, cheetah and wild dog to their sightings.

Accommodations

  • Thatched Chalet: The 3 chalets can each accommodate two guests and are situated along the tree line, giving guests an unobstructed view of the dambo. Here, peace and tranquility reign. The chalet’s en suite facilities include a hot and cold shower, toilet and double basins.
  • Safari Tent: The 3 meru-style safari tents can accommodate up to six people. They have separate en suite toilets, single basins and hot-and-cold shower areas for greater privacy and their walk-in structures provide fantastic views of the bush and the dambo. They are lit with solar and hot water is provided by donkey boilers.
