Set along the tranquil banks of the Kafue River, Musekese Camp lies at the heart of Zambia’s vast and untamed Kafue National Park. With only five newly built guest rooms and an expert guiding team, the camp provides an intimate and highly personalised safari experience. The staff tailor each day to your pace and interests, ensuring that you enjoy the bush exactly as you wish.
Phil and Tyrone, the camp’s owners, lead exceptional safaris and maintain a strong conservation ethos. They design every aspect of the camp to deepen your connection to nature – from the gentle murmur of the river to the distant roar of lions echoing at night.
Experience & Activities:
Musekese Camp offers a wide range of activities to match every guest’s interests. Whether you love birdwatching, photography, or big game encounters, the team plans each day around your preferences.
Guides take guests on thrilling game drives for close-up wildlife encounters and expansive exploration. The private road network maximises viewing opportunities while protecting the surrounding habitats.
Boating safaris are among the most rewarding ways to experience the Kafue River. As you drift along its crystal-clear waters, an abundance of wildlife and birdlife can be observed. During the dry season, elephants are often seen swimming across the river, while leopards may appear at the banks to drink.
Morning walks are best enjoyed in the cool early hours, when animal tracks are fresh and the bush is alive with subtle sounds and scents. These gentle excursions reveal the finer details of the ecosystem — things easily missed from a vehicle.
Birding at Musekese is exceptional throughout the year. Whether embarking on a dedicated birding walk or a casual stroll around camp, guests are rewarded with sightings both numerous and rare.
Canoe safaris are available seasonally in May and June, offering a peaceful, eye-level perspective of the Eden Lagoon. Guided quietly through calm waters, guests can observe wildlife up close in complete serenity.
Wildlife photography is strongly supported at the camp. Vehicles and boats are fitted with stable camera mounts, while experienced photographic guides are available to assist with technique, composition, and post-processing.
For a more personalised experience, private activities can be pre-arranged — ideal for photographers, birders, or families seeking flexibility. Guests may also book Director-Guided Safaris, led by some of Zambia’s most accomplished guides, for a deeper and more holistic understanding of the bush.
Accommodation:
Musekese Camp blends comfort, simplicity, and sustainability. With only five newly built guest rooms, the camp maintains an intimate and tranquil atmosphere.
Each room provides essential comforts, including an ensuite bathroom, flushing toilet, and on-demand hot shower. Guests enjoy modern conveniences while staying fully connected to the wilderness.
The camp runs entirely on solar power, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainability. The main area provides ample stored energy to keep devices charged and drinks perfectly chilled.
The layout of the camp complements the surrounding landscape. From private verandas, guests admire sweeping views of the Kafue River, often watching wildlife pass quietly below. Every detail — from design to location — ensures an authentic yet comfortable safari experience.
