Lemala Osonjoi Lodge is the latest addition to the Lemala portfolio and completes a seamless northern Tanzania circuit. This journey flows naturally from Arusha to Tarangire, onward to Ngorongoro, and finishes in the Serengeti. Furthermore, Osonjoi is one of very few Ngorongoro lodges able to offer private, fully catered lunches on the crater floor. This exclusive privilege allows guests to spend an entire day exploring the Crater in comfort.

Lemala Osonjoi Lodge is set within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, overlooking the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The Ngorongoro Crater and its surrounding highlands are widely recognised as one of Africa’s most reliable wildlife regions.
The lodge is positioned close to the quiet Lemala crater access road on the eastern crater wall. As a result, guests enjoy a quick and easy descent onto the crater floor each morning. Lemala guests typically reach the wildlife-rich floor up to an hour earlier than vehicles using the busier Seneto access road on the western rim. Likewise, they can remain later in the afternoon before returning to camp.
Situated on a forested hill just back from the crater rim, Lemala Osonjoi is named after the Osonjoi trees that characterise the area. These trees hold symbolic and medicinal significance for the Maasai people. The name reflects Lemala’s commitment to conservation, community, and responsible tourism.
Access is straightforward and scenic. Guests may arrive by road from Arusha, Tarangire, or Lake Manyara. Alternatively, those flying in land at Manyara Airstrip, followed by a dramatic drive along the escarpment.

Every suite includes a signature ‘secret nook’ daybed. This private retreat is perfect for reading, relaxing, or enjoying a warming drink after a safari day. Due to the lodge’s high elevation of nearly 8,000 feet, evenings can be cold. Therefore, each suite includes a slow-burning log stove, warm duvets, and thoughtful comforts to ensure cosy nights.
