Experience & Activities
Salsabila is based in Lamu, a small island on the north coast of Kenya, over 100kms north of Mombasa port. Of Swahili origin, Lamu was borne from the trading routes of the Middle East to Arabia and for centuries hosted dhows sailing in from Arabia and India, trading ivory, palm oil, spices and other commodities. Today, although no longer under the rule of its Sultanate, Lamu maintains its air of mystique and times long past – a step back in time to an age without roads and invasive modern ways, where the pace of life is slow, and the only modes of transport are dhow, donkey or foot.
Her spacious decks and authentic furnishings allow up to 14 guests to cruise the area, relax, and enjoy a variety of watersports, including snorkelling, waterskiing and fishing. Activities such as Scuba diving, deep sea fishing and other watersports can be arranged upon request. Our guests can also enjoy incredible bird watching, cultural and historic visits to the many attractions in the area, and walking and tours of Lamu Town.
While on board, guests can sail through the Lamu archipelago, exploring many deserted beaches and island hideaways. When conditions allow, Salsabila raises her majestic sails in time-honoured tradition; at other times, conditions may require using the inboard engine. Salsabila is the perfect getaway for friends seeking fun and adventure, families wishing to spend quality time together, or couples looking for the ultimate secluded Island adventure.
