As Desert & Delta Safaris revive the historic Khwai River Lodge in partnership with Savanna Expeditions, this reimagined property honours its original footprint, celebrates Botswana citizen involvement, and uplifts local communities through meaningful tourism. Its name, “Our Source of Water”, pays homage not only to the lifeblood of the Khwai River flowing before it, but also to the fresh source of opportunity and inspiration it provides for the people and wildlife of this iconic region.

Opening on 16 March 2026, Sediba Sa Rona is set to become one of the defining safari lodges of the Khwai Concession—a place we call “The Meeting Point of Iconic Ecosystems”. Overlooking the Khwai River and shaded by ancient leadwood and fig trees, the lodge offers a sanctuary of comfort, connection, and world-class wildlife viewing.

The visionary rebuild stays true to the original 15-room footprint, reinforcing a commitment to low-impact tourism and the protection of the Okavango Delta environment. Fully operated and managed by Desert & Delta Safaris, the lodge continues their legacy of excellence while infusing every stay with meaning—celebrating culture, community, heritage, and Botswana’s remarkable wilderness.

Experiences & Activities:

The Khwai Concession is home to elephants, wild dogs, big cats, buffalo, hippos and one of the most diverse ecosystems in Botswana. Game drives depart twice daily, with optional night drives after dinner to discover the concession’s nocturnal magic. Day trips into Moremi Game Reserve are available on request.

Glide through the Khwai River’s shallow channels in a traditional mokoro, guided by expert polers. This unhurried activity reveals the Delta’s smaller marvels-frog species, water lilies, delicate reed systems, and perhaps even the elusive sitatunga.

Khwai is a year-round birder’s haven, with kingfishers, jacanas, fish eagles and the rare Pel’s fishing owl. Both seasoned birders and curious beginners will find the birdlife extraordinary.
