Itinerary in Brief

Night game drive andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

A romantic Tanzanian getaway, perfect for honeymooners! Taking you to some of the most luxurious and intimate lodges in Tanzania’s safari hotspots, an authentic mobile camp that follows the annual wildebeest migration year around and finally ending up on white sandy beaches and paradise on earth on a private island. This safari takes your honeymoon to a whole new level!

One great aspect of this safari is that you can either start in Arusha by private vehicle and guide or you can opt to fly between destinations for the ultimate convenience and experience. Either way, you will start off with 2 nights in one of the most remote and secluded lodges in Lake Manyara National Park, situated in the Rift Valley. Explore the park on game drives in search of its famous tree climbing lions or watch as the sun sets over thousands of pink flamingos. Your next stop will be the famous Ngorongoro Crater where you will be fabulously accommodated on the Crater rim for 2 nights with simply epic views of the Crater down below. Explore the Big 5 packed Ngorongoro Crater and join the Maasai warriors for relaxed and authentic cultural experiences. Then after Ngorongoro it’s off to the safari highlight of your trip, spend 3 nights in a luxury yet authentic mobile camp that follows the huge herd of Wildebeest and Zebra as they migrate across the Serengeti. Your camp will be setup in and amongst all the action yet still strategically away from the crowds. This is the best way to experience the migration! By now you would have seen and experienced the best of Tanzania’s wildlife, so it’s off to Zanzibar for 3 nights where you will be accommodated on a private Island just off the north-east shore of the main island. The only people you will encounter here are guests from the same lodge or the staff members eagerly waiting to tend to your needs. Enjoy snorkelling, diving, massages or just relax by the beach and enjoy an absolutely magic ending to your honeymoon on this exclusive island retreat!

This Perfect Tanzania Honeymoon Safari doesn’t hold back on luxury nor on the safari experience. It’s aimed at those who truly want the best-of-the-best honeymoons in Tanzania.

Detailed itinerary

Nights 1 & 2: Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

Designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, the lodge offers an exclusive interpretive safari in a more remote area of the National Park. Gentle Tanzanian hospitality is exuded from the team, who have a passion for delighting guests, whether you are on honeymoon, or a family safari.

Nine stilted treehouse suites, crafted from local timber and makuti palm fronds, boast a sophisticated blend of intimacy and romance, offering privacy and exclusivity in the cool, leafy surroundings, which often has elephant visitors passing through.

Overlooking a forest boma, or outdoor dining area, lined with traditional dugout canoes, guest areas are characterised by soaring spaces that house local artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe, or help with, the preparation of delicious dishes that are enjoyed in the theatrical boma or on the open dining decks. Treat yourself to a massage in the massage sala, surrounded by a lush forest or relax at the pool in the heat of the afternoon.

Nights 3 & 4: Entamanu Ngorongoro

Entamanu Ngorongoro is situated on the north western edge of the Ngorongoro Crater and has exceptional views both down into the Crater from one side, and out over the Serengeti from the other. This is the wilder side of the Crater and as such has a much more exclusive and remote feeling. Oh, and did we mention those views!!

The camp has seven elevated canvas rooms on wooden platforms, of which two are family rooms that consist of two bedrooms sharing a bathroom. Each room has indoor heating and en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, and flush toilets. Due to the nature of the terrain and location it can get cold and windy at night, but every effort is made to create comfort for the changing conditions and the rooms are designed for this.

The main are a series of smaller rooms joined together on a wooden deck, each with a warm and cosy fireplace for when the weather turns as it does in these stunning volcanic highlands. Here meals are served in a communal dining table and hosted by the fantastic staff.

Nights 5-7: Serengeti Safari Camp

Serengeti Safari Camp was designed to follow the annual wildebeest migration that happens in the Serengeti ecosystem. In doing so this mobile camp moves 4-5 times a year to carefully selected sites which not only give great access to the migration but are also set a bit further from the crowds which adds to the privacy.

There are in fact two identical Serengeti Safari camp’s which are separate from one another, which by so doing they have managed to keep each camp small and intimate with only 6 guest tents each. Each tent has large beds, a dressing room and a bathroom where you will find an eco-flush toilet and a classic bucket shower system. The family tent has two en-suite bedrooms with a shared sitting area.

There is a separate lounge and dining tent where guests can relax and enjoy the fantastic food. And of course, there is also a much-needed fireplace to enjoy ones deserved sundowner drinks.

The main event for Serengeti Safari Camp is to enjoy the wildebeest migration. From Dec to Apr the camp is in the southern Serengeti Plains for the birthing seasons, from May to Jul the camp is around Moru Kopjes/Central Serengeti/Western Corridor and then in mid Jul to Nov the camp moves to northern Serengeti for the crossing of the Mara river.

Nights 8-10: Mnemba Island

Discover sheer, unpretentious paradise on this exclusive island, where the simple pleasures become your most treasured of memories for many years to come. Relax and unwind on your own stretch of beachfront, where simple yet luxurious bandas peep out onto unblemished sands from the dappled shade of the casuarina pine forest. Thatched dining and sitting or bar areas boast beautiful open views of the beach and spectacular vistas of Zanzibar beyond.

Late breakfast trays teeming with tropical fruit, freshly-squeezed juice and Tanzanian coffee can be delivered to the beach banda for those wanting to indulge in a lie-in. Fresh sushi and chilled champagne can appear discreetly at the guests’ beach loungers should they wish to celebrate the magnificent sunset in privacy. Romantic candlelit dinners are served on the beach, with the waves lapping gently at guests’ feet. Allow yourself to relax and take a break with yoga and massages in the tranquil retreat of your banda.
