Built and run by the Maasai people, the Original Maasai Lodge offers nature, culture, and relaxation, with views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Get to know the Maasai through stories around the campfire, spear throwing, or traditional dances. Relaxation is provided by the pool, massage rooms, sauna and rest areas. With a total of 16 bungalows, exclusivity, individuality and authenticity are guaranteed.

Experience & Activities

Every day you can experience the sunrise behind Kilimanjaro on the terrace in the midst of African nature. International and traditional Swahili dishes are refined with home-grown herbs and served in the restaurant. To enjoy Tanzania up close in the midst of the Maasai and the endless expanse of the African steppe offers a unique experience all around. Activities such as spear throwing, dances, nature walks, and campfire conversations allow you to interact with the Maasai.

You can experience the traditional way of life of the local inhabitants, feel the strength of African nature, learn about new ways of sustainable development, and even support the social, medical and educational projects with your stay and excursions. At the lodge, guests can enjoy the sauna and swimming pool and relax around the fire at nightfall.

Accommodations

There are 16 earth houses to choose from, which stand in different places in a replicated Maasai village. Each bungalow is powered by solar energy and offers European standards, a toilet and a shower with hot water.
