As a migration camp, Kimondo moves with the seasons, following the wildebeest herds around the Serengeti. From July to October, you’re watching the wildebeest thunder across the Mara River, risking being snapped up by lurking crocodiles. During the winter, the camp moves to the lush southern Serengeti, where the wildebeest gather in their hundreds of thousands to calve and graze.

From camp, watch herds of wildebeest, zebras and antelope as you relax outside your tent and soak up the peacefulness of the savannah In the evenings, sip a G&T around the campfire while admiring the glittering Milky Way.

Our nine canvas tents, including one family tent, have king-sized or twin beds with cast-iron frames, handwoven rugs and wooden furnishings. There are en suite bathrooms with outdoor bucket showers, a flushing toilet and hot running water. The lounger on your veranda is the perfect spot for a post-lunch snooze.

Game drives depart twice per day,  first thing in the morning and again in the late afternoon. They have both open-sided vehicles with canvas roofs and closed vehicles with pop-up roofs. All vehicles come equipped with power points to keep your cameras charged and fridges to provide chilled drinks throughout the day.

Soar over the Serengeti in a hot-air balloon and get an unmatched view of the wildlife below. This special experience is at additional cost and weather dependent. Booking is essential.

When the camp is in the north, guests can walk through the bush with one of the knowledgeable guides. This is a wonderful chance to take note of the less conspicuous natural wonders around you: birds and bees, droppings and spoor, leaves and flowers.

Specially modified photographic vehicles are available to Kimondo guests when the camp is in the north. The open vehicle allows keen amateurs and professional photographers alike to shoot at eye level with wildlife. It is equipped with all the gear to ensure award-winning shots — from beanbags and camera rests to 360° swivel seats.
