Detailed Itinerary
1st Night: Katambuga House
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be collected by a driver and transported to Katambuga house for a relaxing first night to recover from the travel.
Katambuga House is an elegant and stylish 6 room lodge set in expansive grounds, on the Endurance Estate near Arusha. With attention to detail, caring staff and excellent dining, Katambuga house is a destination in its own right.
2nd Night: Corfield’s Camp
A short transfer from Katambuga to Tarangire National Park, followed by a full day’s worth of game viewing in the park. Tarangire is well known for its large elephant concentration and its beautiful landscape with its many Baobab trees.
Corfield Camp is located in the northern sector of Tarangire National Park, but in a secluded area in the north that rarely gets visitors. This give you both a private atmosphere along with the convenience of close being within proximity to the nearby parks which you wouldn’t have if you were deeper inside the park. Stepping into Corfield camp is to step into a safari in the 80’s. With the Corfield brother’s history in the industry they have kept with the old school style and service which is unmatched.
3rd & 4th Nights: Manyara Green Camp
A game drive out of Tarangire and a transfer to Manyara National Park. A game drive through the park with a picnic lunch as you make your way to Manyara Green Camp. Arriving in the evening shortly before enjoying dinner under the stars. The following day a leisurely lakeshore walk in the morning and game drive in the afternoon with an optional night-drive.
The camp itself is very stylish and comfortable with accommodation being in the form of 4m across bell tents on raised decking. Each contains double beds, linen bedding, chairs, luggage racks and an attached large bathroom with a hot shower. With only 5 bell tents the camp normally sleeps a mere 10 guests, although it is possible to accommodate 3 per tent on request.
5th & 6th Nights: Mysigio Camp
Game drive out of the Lake Manyara National park, treetop walkway en route and stop off in Mto Wa Mbu for a village tour and local lunch in a banana plantation. Carry on to Ngorongoro Crater and spend the night in Mysigio Camp. Spend the following day game driving in the Ngorongoro Crater floor searching for the Big5.
Mysigio camp’s location is magnificent, set off the main road, in the heart of ‘Maasai country’ with ancient forests and great views overlooking rolling hills. The Ngorongoro Highlands is Maasai Country and the camp gives a unique and authentic look into some intriguing aspects of this ancient culture.
7th Night: Pembezoni Camp
Embark on a full-day game drive from the Ngorongoro highlands to central Serengeti and Pembezoni Camp.
The camp has nine luxury large tents complete with en-suite bathrooms and eco-toilets. Fresh drinking water is provided, and bucket showers are prepared by staff on request. The main area consists of a large dining tent which houses a library, lounge and bookshelf. Charging facilities are also in this tent with power provided from solar. There is a great outdoor bush bar by the fireplace which overlooks the Serengeti and the nearby riverbed with its frequent elephant and buffalo visitors.
8th & 9th Nights: Wayo Serengeti Walking Camp
Game drive up to northern Serengeti and arrive into the walking camp in time for lunch and an afternoon walk. Back in camp for dinner under the stars. The next day, walking safaris all day, generally it’s a longer walk in the morning of about 4/5 hours. Then back in camp for lunch and a rest out of the midday sun before setting out for an afternoon walk of about 2/3 hours finishing with sundowners on a kopje.
The tents are spacious enough for two people to have a good night’s rest and contain a 4-inch mattress on a bed-frame with full cotton bedding. The bathrooms are a short distance behind the tents where one will find a short drop toilet and bucket shower system. The camp takes on a “everything you need and nothing you don’t” approach which ensures comfort and safety without unneeded luxuries.
10th & 11th Nights: Kogatende Green Camp
Then moving onto Kogatende Green Camp. This will be your base for the next 2 nights as you witness to the incredible wildebeest migration. Attempts will be made to view them crossing the Mara River, however it’s important to note that they cross unpredictably.
The camp itself is very stylish and comfortable with accommodation being in the form of 10 spacious square tents.
