The Roberts’ family has been in the safari industry for over 50 years, operating and guiding safaris across the continent and developing lodges in Kenya, as well as contributing hugely to wildlife conservation in Kenya. Mobile Expeditions is run by Roberts family members Ross and Caro and their Classic Camp and Explorers Camps are set up in wild locations throughout Kenya.

Willie Roberts, the founder of Mobile Expeditions and Caro’s father, was a true visionary and one of the forefathers and most instrumental ambassadors of wildlife conservation in Kenya. He set up the first Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya in the Masai Mara, essentially founding the ‘conservancy movement’, saving the greater area from being carved up for farming, laying down a clear path of success for community conservancies in Kenya and setting an example and an inspiration for others to follow.

Mobile Expeditions Laikipia Camp is a fully equipped luxury mobile safari camp of up to 10 double, en-suite safari tents, and a large ‘mess’ tent for lounging and dining. It is only available on an exclusively basis for a min of 4 guests for 3 nights or more. It is privately guided, exquisitely catered and set up in one of several beautiful and remote locations.

Laikipia is in central Kenya, and it is a rich natural treasure, boasting some of Kenya’s most diverse wildlife and vast, pristine wilderness areas. With Mount Kenya as a backdrop, the Laikipia plateau extends over 9,500 sq km of ever-changing landscapes. This area has become one of the most important areas for wildlife in Kenya and where some of the most effective conservation work in the country is being done. Mobile Expeditions sets up camp in the Loldaiga Hills – one of Laikipia’s oldest and most beautiful ranches, with dramatic gorges, busy waterholes, rocky outcrops and rolling acacia-covered hills. This location offers fantastic walking, unending views extending from Mount Kenya to the vast north, and exciting additional activities such as helicopter excursions. They also set up camp on the renowned rhino conservancy, Ol Pejeta, which is ideal for large groups and corporate safaris, and a haven for game viewing on the open plains.

The Mobile Expeditions team plan, set up and guide you on a luxury safari that takes you to some of Kenya’s secret wildernesses. Experience a private camp with all the comforts of home – spacious bedroom tents, en suite bathrooms with hot showers, three course delicious meals and beautiful decor. The Classic Camp perfectly combines comfort and charm and is furnished with all the ‘necessary luxuries’ such as white linen, woven carpets and hand-made furniture. The Classic Camp truly offers the ultimate experience of the original safari.
